An epic love story set against a background of political turmoil. Heroic pro-democracy leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi sacrificed her happiness and that of her family for a higher cause in her struggle against a dangerously hostile oppressive military regime, during which she was placed under house arrest in Burma for over a decade for her non-violent battle for human rights. Her husband Michael Aris, diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer, passed away before she was released.

THE MILL AND THE CROSS
( Bruegel, le Chemin et la Croix)
Historical Drama directed by Lech Majewski with Michael York and Charlott Rampling 1 hr 32
Sat 28TH at 9.00, Sun 29TH AT 5.30 AND Mon 30TH AT 6.30
Flemish painter Pieter Brueghel's 1564 masterpiece The Procession to Calvary is an immense work of art that draws together the events of Christ's crucifixion with that of Flanders' sacking by Spanish forces. Controversial and bold, it made a grand, brutally realistic statement about a world-changing event. This ambitious project of filmmaker Lech Majewsk combines stunning digital effects with live actors and horses to venture into the world of the painting itself. In English and Spanish (The three main characters speak in English; all incidental speech is in Spanish and Flemish.)
